It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

Last night we sent the girls to get their showers after dinner. Most of the time they take turns hopping in and out but, somehow they all ended up in there together. And, as all of us know who have siblings , together with water usually equals mischief. Chino and I heard the girls laughing and squealing and lots of splashing then, a big thud, and screaming! (that horrible scream when you know someone is truly hurt). We raced to the bathroom only to find the door locked. After we got in, Jennifer was holding her ear with a bloody hand. Chino grabbed it with a towel to stop the bleeding, we quickly rinsed her off and got a better look and decided she needed to go to urgent care. The wound extended from her canal down the full length of her lobe- fortunately it just filleted and didn't rip through to the back. Still pretty disgusting.
After a very short debate at urgent care, the Dermabond route won out. It took a few tries but, her ear is back together again. Her Doctor was amazing with her- very gentle and kid friendly. She was such the trouper!
How did it happen? A little bum shoving in the shower by her beloved sisters and out she went head first onto the toilet seat. New Ayala Family rule: One person in the shower at a time. No exceptions.
Here is what the ear looks like post repair:

The injury was almost worth getting a sticker and lollipop at the urgent care center, a late night ice cream cone from Sonic and a prize choice from Mom's treasure chest.

As annoyed as we are that the children DO NOT believe us when we tell them someone will get hurt if they screw around in the shower, we are VERY grateful that Jennifer's ear took the brunt of the blow, not her skull. Thanks to her guardian angels who protected her once again, and a loving Father in Heaven that watches over us all.

Jennifer - you are a real trooper. We are praying for you to heal fast. I think you deserve two treats from Sonic!
