We spent our first few days with Abbie and Joe in thier home. We LOVE staying with them. They are so gracious to allow our big family to descend and take over every other summer. Anyway, we got to visit with them and their children Ashley and Michael quite a bit. Abbie made an amazing Chinese dinner for us. I really need to get that recipe!, the kids got to swim and run around on their huge property. They loved being able to be outdoors. In Mesa, that is a very difficult thing to do in the summertime. Jennifer nearly smothered their adorable dachsund, Harley, to death every chance she got. She would bend down and whisper in his kennel before we left in the morning, " Dont worry baby.. Mommy will be home to take care of you later. " She meant her, not Abbie, of course.
We also spent some time in town visiting the festival and getting some more pictures with the groundhog Phils
Wednesday evening we drove to Bryan and Lori's home. Their absolutely adorable house sits on 2 acres of amazing property. They even have a pond in the back where the kids went fishing. Uncle Mike says that fishing in that pond is like shooting fish in a barrel. Lucky the kids didnt know that. They were pretty proud of their accomplishments!!
There is just something about Uncle Bryan that kids love. They just gravitate towards him the minute they are in his presence. The girls helped him water his garden, feed the fish and then he gave them rides on his 6 wheeler. When it got dark, he even helped them catch a few fireflies. Jennifer, of course loved on their two dogs while she was there as well. She definitely was not short on animals to mother while we were in Punxy and Big Run!
