We arrived at JC Windmill Farms just before lunch. To our slight disappointment ( We have been way too spoiled over the years at Young's Farm!!) This was not a working farm. More like a tree farm/nursery with outdoor event facilities. Good place for company picnic, Western theme receptions..etc.
This little pumpkin festival is hosted by the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce and is mainly geared to kids 7 and younger. So... Jolie and Jen had a great time. The rest of us kinda just wandered around watching them.

The fact that it was hotter than H*** outside really bummed us out. Pumpkin Festival requirement #1: Cool, Crisp Autumn Air!!!!

The little girls enjoyed the petting zoo, train ride, bounce house and pumpkin patch
We all went on the hay ride. Our tour guide was an older gentleman who was recounting the history of the farm.. which was very interesting until he talked about the two lakes and the dam. Then, for the next 5 minutes we heard every "dam" joke in the "dam" world. Completely lost on the entire cartload of kids with us. "Why does he keep saying that bad word, mom?"

Ah well.... we picked our pumpkins from the patch, and made our way back to the car.

I'm still a little ( ok, a lot) bitter that Young's Farm Pumpkin Festival no longer exists. Those people KNEW how to throw a great Fall Party. Perhaps that is the biggest reason that the Windmill Farms was a disappointment to the majority of the family.
Live and learn. At least it was a beautiful place and we were spending our day together.
Overall, we had a fabulous Fall break ... Until we passed the Shamrock sign in Phoenix (that displays the outside temperature) on the way home and read: 113 degrees. Which, turns out was only slightly inaccurate. Only 103 degrees. Hmm. I feel much better.

I'm glad you guys had a good trip, despite the disappointing pumpkin festival. I have yet to find one as great as Young's!
