Does the fun never end?

Tonight our family went to Astronomy Night at Mesa Community College. This was a FREE event sponsored by the physical science department at the brand new Physical Science building. While waiting for the show to begin in the amazing, state of the art, solar powered planetarium.. we got to see the moon through a pretty powerful telescope. It looked alot like this:

Pretty Impressive, Huh? Then... we stood in line waiting for the show to begin. We were really excited- especially DAD!!!

The planetarium is about 35 feet across and is seriously, seriously COOL. We felt like we were in outer space... Those of us with motion sickness issues even felt a little nauseated- it was that REAL.

When we exited the building, it was just dark enough to view Jupiter through the telescopes. We even got to see four of the moons. It looked alot like this:

The experience was both entertaining AND educational. For instance, did you know that Neptune has 2 geysers that shoot gas over 100 miles into the atmosphere then turn at 90 degree angles and shoot out for another 100 miles or so ? See how smart you get when you go to college?

Anyway, this is a THUMBS UP activity that we are definitely looking forward to doing again.
