When reading is your favorite past-time

When you love to read as much as our family... visiting the largest library in the world is a MUST! Conveniently located right next door to the Supreme Court building, it was a natural choice for our second stop.

Again, the outside of the building was grand and impressive but, the INSIDE was like wandering into a fantasy.

Three words A-MAZ-ING!!!!!!!

I found it especially intriguing that so many of the frescos were religiously themed. Like this one of Adam and Eve praying at the altar they made after being cast out of the garden of Eden. When did we forget that our country was forged by men and women inspired by God? That they knew, read and believed in the Bible?

"Give instruction unto those who cannot procure it for themselves...." Says it all.

It was like being a kid in a candy shop... so much to look at that it was overwhelming. Miraculously my obsession with viewing the ceilings did not result in bumping into, knocking over, or tripping on anyone or anything.

Loved seeing the Gutenberg Bible - the first great book printed in Western Europe from movable metal type. VERY POPULAR attraction.

Unfortunately... we had only about an hour to look around before our scheduled tour at the capitol. And REALLY unfortunate was the fact that you cannot take ANYTHING into the capitol building. Since all 14 of us were carrying bags with water and lunches in them, and since there was NO PLACE provided to store such contraband while we toured the capitol, I made the sacrifice and stayed outside with all our stuff while the rest of the group went inside for a 90 min. tour of the capitol. POO on YOU Capitol "security" for spoiling our morning.

Here are a few pics taken by Chino.
